Dawn Cheney

Dawn knew she had a passion for Occupational Therapy when introduced to it through a high school volunteer program at Children’s Hospital Wisconsin-Milwaukee and began her career as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. With a consistent focus in pediatrics, she worked in a variety of settings to include hospital, home, clinic and school based. With a drive for furthering her education, Dawn built upon her bachelor’s degree in psychology and earn her Master of Occupational Therapy from University Concordia-Mequon WI. Dawn finds joy in working with children and their caregivers on their path to gaining a better understanding of themselves, individually and collectively, so as to maximize on quality of life and meeting their goals. The freedom within occupational therapy to take a holistic approach and use movement and play as an intervention so as to connect with one’s body while weaving in self-discovery, personal strengths, and self-improvement is a corner stone of OT that Dawn values and finds joy in. As a lifelong learner Dawn thrives in the ever-evolving OT profession and seeks opportunities for professional development in her thirst for knowledge and personal growth.

While Dawn calls Wisconsin “home” she has had the incredible opportunity to live in several different states, and a few countries. She continues to find joy in experiencing culture and traveling. Dawn also loves anything outdoors, especially hiking and skiing and anything with a paddle or petal. Family time with her husband and three kiddo’s is always the best.
