CTN News – January 2012

Happy New Year! I hope that your holiday was filled with fun, family and cherished memories.

I am busily anticipating the pending move to our new space. If you were to peek downstairs you would see walls being put up, drywall going in this week, electrical and plumbing being finished, as well lots of “checking it twice” to make sure our new space is just right! I want to thank you all for your patience with the noise level of the build out over the last couple weeks. I have been working with the contractor to ensure that no more noise affects client sessions. (more…)

Music and Movement Group- Incorporating Sensory Regulation Principles

Are you looking for an opportunity for your child with sensory needs to participate successfully in a group class setting?
This fun group experience is based on the music and movement curriculum developed by Musikgarten (www.musikgarten.org). Musikgarten’s proven curriculum provides children with developmentally appropriate activities using music to awaken movement, language and social development. The class will be co-taught by an occupational therapist and a speech therapist, both of whom are experienced with the Musikgarten curriculum. The curriculum will be adapted to support individual children’s specific sensory needs, such as motor planning concerns or sensory defensiveness. The main goal of the group during each session is to ensure that the child is both engaged in the music process, as well as engaged with others in the group: their parents and their peers. (more…)
